Beginning Brioche with Faina G.
This old, intriguing, and unique knitting technique is very popular in modern patterns for cowls, shawls, hats, and even sweaters. The fabric
you create will be soft, 3-dimensional, reversible, and simply irresistible.
In this class you will learn basic brioche in one and two colors. There will be many tips along the way and you will feel that you learned so
much more than you expected.
Prerequisite: Basic knitting
To save some time in class, do the following:
Practice how to make a slip stitch edge. Here is my tutorial http://fainasknittingmode.com/2009/12/09/a-perfect-selvage/
Using class yarn and needle, CO 20 sts and leave on needle.
With second color of yarn and a different needle, CO 20 sts and leave on needle.
In case you make a mistake as you are working with one of the swatches in class and need to start from a cast on, repeat step 2 on a third needle. Hopefully you will not use it, but it is your prep for a swatch.
We will continue with these cast on stitches in class.
Yarn: Two balls of different solid-color (worsted-weight) yarn.
Needles: Your preference for chosen yarn (for worsted yarn any sizes
between US 6 and US 8)
