Using two colors and knitting in the round is the easiest way to understand and learn brioche stitch. This class will get you "brioching" in no time as you create a simple two-color brioche cowl. Please be sure to complete the homework outlined below before the class.
Yarn - For this project, please choose smooth, worsted-weight, wool yarn in two contrasting colors. You will need 85 yards of your main color (MC), and 75 yards of your contrasting color (CC).
Needles - US#5, 16”long circular needles. (Yes, this is the correct size. When knitting brioche, we use needles one or two sizes smaller than we might otherwise for a given weight of yarn.)
Notions - 1 ring marker
The pattern is included with the class!
- With MC, and US#5, 16" circular needle, cast on (CO) 135 stitches (sts).
- Place marker to designate beginning of round, and join for working in the round, being careful not to twist sts.
- *P2, K1; repeat from * to end of round.
- Work two more rounds of ribbing as established. (Three rounds of ribbing total.)
