This is a one session class: Saturday, September 23rd, 1:30-3:30pm
Advanced Beginner and Intermediate Level Knitters
Course Description
Learn a variety of buttonholes so that you can choose just the right one for your sweater. We'll cover some refinements to the yarnover buttonhole, learn the one-row buttonhole, a vertical buttonhole, and others. (Sorry for the funny picture; I had to pin the swatch open so you could see the buttonholes!)
Prerequisites
Knit, purl, cast on, bind off.
Skills Learned
Several types of buttonholes.
Supplies
Homework swatches worked in smooth, light-colored, worsted-weight yarn; needles used for swatches. Needles should be a size or two smaller than you usually use for your chosen yarn. If you have a set of 4 or 5 double-pointed needles, it will be handy to knit your swatches with them and leave each swatch on its own double-point for class.
Homework
Work three swatches, each 8 stitches wide and about 1 1/2" long. Work one swatch in garter stitch, one swatch in k1, p1 rib, and one swatch in seed stitch. Do not bind off the swatches. Either leave each swatch on a double-pointed needle or place the stitches onto a stitch holder. Leave about 3 yards of yarn attached to each swatch. (To work seed stitch: Row 1: *K1, p1; rep from * across. All following rows: Purl the knits and knit the purls.)
