Crocheted Amigurumi Animals
Amigurumi is the Japanese art of knitting or crocheting small stuffed animals. Learn the basics of amigurumi by making a cute, quickly crocheted bird or a more challenging adorable dragon. This is a great skill building class for newer crocheters to learn how to work in the round, increase, decrease, and read a pattern, plus you get to have a fun friend to take home! Taught by Kira K.
Materials to bring to class:
- To make a bird, 70 yards, or a dragon, 160 yards, of smooth yarn in worsted weight to bulky weight (larger yarn will make a larger toy)
- a crochet hook that makes a dense fabric with your yarn in single crochet
- darning needle
- scissors
- safety eyes 5mm-12mm (depending on the size of your toy)
- removable stitch markers
The sample bird was crocheted with worsted weight yarn, is 4" tall; and the sample dragon was crocheted with aran weight yarn, is 7" tall.
Prerequisites:
- You should already know how to chain stitch and single crochet.
