Be introduced to a new technique that is easy and very interesting while learning how to make this hat.

Yarn needed for a hat: 2 skeins of MC and 1 skein of CC (includes yarn for a class swatch)

"Fog City" pattern purchased through ravelry.com or through store

 

Materials

Sincere Sheep Covet DK (60% Wool, 25% Alpaca, 15% Silk; DK weight: 150 yd/ 137 m per 1.98 oz/56 g skein); MC: Bare Grey; 1 (1, 2, 2) skeins CC: Cumulus; 1 skein for all sizes

US 6/4.0 mm 16-inch/41-cm circular needle

US 4/3.5 mm 16-inch/41-cm circular needle, or needle two sizes smaller than gauge needle

Tapestry needle, stitch markers

Gauge

20 sts x 28 rnds = 4 inches/10 cm in Stockinette stitch on larger needle, after blocking

 

Homework

 

With MC and US 6 (or changed needle to get the gauge) CO 34 sts

 

*Knit one row, purl one row; repeat from * 3 more times ending with WS (purl) row.

 

In class:

1.   We will continue this swatch to learn how to work the 2 slip-stitch patterns in the hat.

2.   Learn how to use the chart.

3.   Learn abbreviations for this pattern.

 

You will be able to make this hat after taking the class with no problem. In case you need further help, please come to a Tuesday knit lab where Faina will be happy to help you.
