Class Date and Time: Two Tuesdays July 11 and 18 6-8PM

Hats are fast and fun to knit, and there are endless possibilities! You'll learn to work in the round, read a pattern, decrease, and measure gauge. First time hat-makers can make a simple ribbed or rolled-brim hat using Kira's easy formula, and more experienced knitters can choose from any of Kira's knitted hat patterns. (To browse Kira's patterns, please see Kira's website. Patterns will also be available to purchase at the first class meeting.)

Materials to bring for simple ribbed or rolled-brim hat:

  • 100 grams of worsted- or aran-weight yarn

  • one 16" circular needle in a size appropriate for your yarn (for worsted- or aran-weight, this will most likely be a US7, US8, or US9)

  • one set of double-pointed needles of the same size (the number of needles in a set differs according to the manufacturer, and you can use either a set of 4 or a set of 5 in this class)

  • stitch markers

  • yarn needle

Note: If you choose to make a hat other than the simple ribbed or rolled-brim hat, please bring all of the materials specified by the pattern and a variety of needles for swatching.
