Braids of hand-dyed fiber allow many possibilities for how to spin them beyond end-to-end. We will explore dividing braids to later ply with colors matching up, opposing, or creating a fractal pattern. We will talk about rearranging colors including removing or adding to make your perfect combination, keeping it random with combo spinning, and adding solids with combo drafting or marled plying. Chain plying will be demonstrated and optionally tried.
Materials: Drop spindle or spinning wheel that you are comfortable using – please be sure your wheel is in working order with all necessary parts including multiple bobbins. Optional: one or more braids of hand-dyed fiber, some spun singles ready to ply.
Optional Materials Fee: $20 for 2oz of mini braids.
