This is a one session class: Saturday, September 27th, 1:30-3:30pm

Course Description
Discover bind offs that give your piece a beautiful edge and others that are unobtrusive. Learn a
bundle of techniques for binding off your projects by making samples. You can then use the
samples to choose the right bind off for your piece.

Prerequisites
Knit, purl, cast on.

Skills Learned
Eight bind offs will be covered (as time allows).

Supplies
Swatches done in smooth, light-colored, worsted weight yarn (see "homework"); leftover yarn

from swatches; knitting needles in the size that you usually use for worsted weight yarn; small-
sized double-pointed needles; blunt tapestry needle; optional: hang tags for marking swatches.

Homework
8 swatches of garter stitch, each 40 stitches wide by 2" long, and one swatch of k1, p1 rib, 40 sts
wide by 2" long. Do not bind off the swatches! Place the live stitches onto spare needles, stitch
holders, or yarn. (It will be easiest if the swatches are on spare needles, ready to work. The spare
needles can be smaller sizes than the ones used to knit the swatches. Double-pointed needles are
great for this.) Leave a yard or so of "tail" at the end of each swatch (2–3 yards at the end of two
of the swatches), to be used to bind off the swatch during class.

Ages 15+

Please note that the deadline to cancel or reschedule is 48 hours before the class time.
